Who we are
Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre is a creative community hub nestled on the edge of Bodmin Moor in South East Cornwall. Our unique site is a catalyst where creativity and nature collide, at the geographical and cultural gateway to Cornwall. We are committed to programming a diverse range of theatre, dance, comedy and live music in our 500 seat Barn Theatre and 70-seat studio. Our community hub is the home to a range of regular create community provision, including our Sterts Future Makers, Sterts Community Makers, Sterts Artist Development, Sterts Heritage, and Sterts Environmental programmes.
Booking Terms and Conditions
Booking and Ticket Information
We recommend booking early to secure your tickets.
Both our Barn Theatre and Studio spaces have unreserved seating, except for accessible seating which can be secured at the time of booking. Reserving an accessible seat automatically reserves a companion seat so you can sit with a member of your party. Please call our Box Office if you have any questions or access requirements if your requirements change.
It is your responsibility to check your order/tickets to check they are correct and contact us immediately if there is a mistake. Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre will not be responsible for any issues that occurred as result of the booker’s mistake. Any known issues with your order that have occurred as a result of the venue will be communicated to you as soon as reasonably possible.
A valid ticket must be produced to get into an event. Removing any part of, altering or defacing the ticket may invalidate your ticket.
An order is confirmed once you have received online confirmation and an order confirmation email.
Booking Fees
We charge 4% + VAT on each booking. This is to cover the costs of our online card payment provider, Stripe, and our online ticketing system, TicketSource.
Booking fees are nonrefundable.
Additional booking fees may be applied if you are exchanging your tickets for another show.
Refunds and Exchanges
All tickets are non-refundable unless the performance is cancelled.
If you are unable to attend, please notify us ahead of the start time and we may be able to exchange your tickets for an alternative performance for an additional booking fee.
If an event is cancelled or postponed, we will do our best to inform you of these changes. Please ensure your contact details are up to date via link.
In the occurrence of an event being rescheduled, all tickets will be automatically transferred to the new date. If you are unable to attend on the new date, please contact us. Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre, and the Visiting Company, are not liable for any personal travel, accommodation or hospitality arrangements made relating to the event or the rescheduling of any event. If an event is rescheduled and a refund is agreed, we will return the total value of your order, minus all or part of booking fees covering service costs and charges already incurred.
Should we identify any suspicious activity in our booking system, Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre reserves the right to freeze those accounts whilst we contact the account holder. If we are unable to make contact within 5 working days of discovering suspicious activity, then we reserve the right to cancel any associated tickets without notice or refund.
Third Party Ticket Sales
Tickets may not be sold for commercial gain, and tickets purchased by account holders are for personal use only. If the information available to us suggested tickets have been purchased for commercial gain, then we may, at our discretion, cancel the tickets without notice or refund.
Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre takes no responsibility for tickets or services purchased via an agency or third party, including individuals purchasing on behalf of a group
Age Restrictions
Some performances or events may have age restrictions, please check for any restriction on the production’s event page or with the Box Office prior to purchasing your tickets.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Concessions
Concessions tickets are available for some of our performances.
Only one concession applies per ticket. Proof of eligibility may be requested at the time of purchase and/or on the day of the performance.
Family rate tickets, and group discounts, are available for some performances as detailed on the performance listing.
Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre reserves the right to:
Cancel performances
Alter the cast without notice (We are unable to guarantee the appearance of any particular artist and casts are subject to change without notice.)
Refuse ticket holder entry
Challenge any suspicious account activity to protect our audiences from fraudulent activity
Customer Courtesy
Theatre is a shared experience, so please show consideration to those on stage and fellow audience members. Mobile phones and other devices should be switched off during the performances. Photography and filming is strictly prohibited during performances.
For future promotional activities, we occasionally film/photograph our audience. If you wish not to be filmed, please inform our staff.
As we are an environmental center, we are a smoking-free site. Vaping is prohibited inside and within 5 meters of all of buildings.
Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre and all visiting companies are not responsible or liable for any personal property brought onto the premises.
Secure searches may be carried out at certain performances and events.
You are welcome to bring your own food onto site and into the auditorium, however alcohol is not permitted to be brought onto site. There are bar facilities for all our performances and events.
The performance starts at the time specified on your ticket. Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to take to your seats.
Our Barn Theatre has the original bench amphitheater seating. It is wind and rain proof, however it is not heated. Please wrap up warm, especially in the winter months. We also recommend bringing a cushion to sit on.
Privacy Policy
We recognise the importance of your privacy and our role in ensuring your information is protected and respected. We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information and we aim to ensure that all personal information in our possession is processed in accordance with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Information Commissioner’s Office.
What we do with your information
We use your data to process your ticket purchases. With your permission, provide you with details about future events and services based on your past purchases. We use anonymised data to analyse audiences for reporting our funders, partners and visiting companies to help us plan future marketing and communications campaigns.
We take all reasonable steps to ensure your information is kept secure and is accurate. We have never and will never sell your information to any other company or individual, or use it in any way which could compromise your privacy unless required to do so by law.
Some third parties who we use to provide services for you, for example Ticket Source, may have access to your data. We make sure anyone who provides such services for Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre enters into agreement with us, meets our standard and only uses your information in a way you could reasonably expect.
You may, at any time, update your communication preferences option to receive or stop receiving information from us. We do not send marketing information to anyone aged under 16 years old, except for Sterts Future Makers who have consented to this.
All customer data is held by our CRM system on Ticket source or held centrally on our database system. Our central database system is operated and managed exclusively by Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre.
Overseas Transfers
We use third party mass email service, Mailchimp, to send our marketing campaigns, reminders and other account related information. This service is based in the United States. Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre have binding contracts in place with all providers regarding the use of your data.
TicketSource

We work with Ticket Source to manage our Box Office. TicketSource is an online ticketing software provider, that deliver online ticketing services on our behalf. Therefore, TicketSource is the Data Processor acting on behalf of the Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre, who is the Data Controller, and it is Sterts Arts and Enviornmental Centre who decides what happens to your Personal Data. How long do we hold your data?
We hold your data as long as you remain active with Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre.
After a period of 6 years of inactivity, we permanently erase all your personal data.
Who has access to your information?
Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre, and its wholly owned subsidiary Sterts Theatre CIC, work directly with a small number of companies and freelancers who process data to support our marketing and communications campaigns. Strict agreements are in place to ensure the safe use and safe storage of data. We regularly review our processes to ensure that our systems are as efficient and effective as possible.
The only company that will contact you on behalf of Sterts Arts and Environmental Centre is our Box Office provider Ticket Source. Your data is only used as instructed by us and is only retained as long as required for the provision of the services you have requested. If you have any concerns, comments or complaints about how your information is used, please contact hello@stertsarts.org.
We understand that the storage and use of your personal data can be concerning. No system or service is one hundred percent secure, but we take all reasonable and appropriate measures to ensure the transmission and use of your data is as secure as technology will allow.
Your information is valuable to you, and you trust us to look after it appropriately. Our systems are kept up to date with the latest firewall measures.
